Vista startup sound

Gah. Some of the sounds in Windows XP are so obnoxious, especially if you leave your speakers turned up pretty high. I'm glad they got rid of the "thud"-type sounds.

The comparison in the clip of the startup sounds for 95, 2000, XP and Vista was pretty interesting. I had forgotten that 2000 had such a crazy startup sound.

With all the buzz i was expecting something a little more..... substantial. I think like most things, over time i will grow to like it, sorta like how at first I didn't think i could get used to calling an OS Vista, but now I kinda like the name. The sounds are much less in your face, they do what they need to, convey a message without accidently waking up everyone in your house at 1 am when you turn you computer on.

Not bad. I always disable all sounds except incoming mail in my OSes anyway. Sounds become incredibly annoying after a couple of weeks.

I either disable all sounds, or replace them with custom ones... then again, even custom ones are obnoxious. The worst would have to be a startup sound of "My life for Aiur" - who even does that? :disgust:
