For some reason, the search function on the Start Menu never finds items that are NOT in the Documents and Desktop folders. However, the search Windows that you launch works instantly. I wanted to search for the song Stairway to Heaven.
I typed into the Start Menu search as: stairway ---> No items match your search.
Now, I launch the Search windows and type in: stairway ---> get the song instantly.
Two Searches - Different Results
I can use Start Menu search to launch programs fine. It's searching for files that I already added to the index locations that don't work (i.e. in another drive).
Why didn't the first one work? Aren't they supposed to be linked?
EDIT: I know the file is in F:\MUSIC\.... (the whole music folder is indexed including subfolders).
I tried searching using the search box in Windows Explorer, and it has odd behaviors.
If I launch "Computer," and search for the file, I get the result INSTANTLY.
If I'm using Windows Explorer, and I am in drive C:\ or any other drive besides F:\, then I get no result.
If I'm using Windows Explorer, and I am already in drive F:\, then I get the result INSTANTLY.
