I have a problem that I think only started happening since I upgraded to SP2 where after about 10 minutes of inactivity Vista will auto-lock itself and put me at the login screen. I have the screensaver disabled, monitors set to sleep after 20 minutes, and the computer and hard drive never set to sleep. Really there are no power options that relate to this at all, and I've looked through Local Group Policy Editor and didn't find anything related there either. This guy's problem looks identical: http://www.avforums.com/forums...talling-vista-sp2.html. Any chance this is a problem with SP2? It's annoying as I really don't need my home box to auto-lock.

Thanks.

Try this:

How to disable the auto-lock feature in Windows Vista?

I was pretty annoyed with my computer which would lockdown if left idle for 10 minutes, and then ask for the password to log back in. This behavior is actually caused by the screensaver settings. Right click on the desktop, select Personalize, select Screen Saver from the next screen. In the Screen Saver Settings windows that appears deselect the checkbox that says ?On Resume, Display logon Screen?. This should fix it.

And see this link to see if a Group Policy may have been set on the system:
