Hello Guys

Just brought a new PC 🙂. It comes Monday

Spec is

E7200 Core 2 Duo Processor
P35-S3G Gigabyte Motherboard
4Gb Cosair XMS2 Memory
250gb Harddrive - 16mb cache
3650 512mb Graphics Card (I'm upgrading at XMas)

Now, its a budget PC and just wondeirng should I go with Windows Vista or XP?

Now once you've made your suggestion the next question is 32bit OS or 64bit OS?

Finally how does this PC hold up generally? I took peoples advice but not sure what to expect, my current PC is an old Athlon XP 2600.

Thanks

Nick

Question? What are you going to use the PC for? If gaming or any type of encoding is involved, I will go ahead and recommend 64 bit Vista. You will need 64 bit Vista to use all that RAM.

Well when you say gaming how much gaming can a 3650 generally do?

I will use it alot for Football Manager lol... which one is best for that?

64 bit is always better for 4 gigs or more of RAM. Any 32 bit programs should run just fine on 64 bit Vista.

Any new-built PC should use the 64-bit Vista, especially if you are planning to use 4 GB of RAM.

Why is it still even a question...? Unless you know that software you are planning to use has known issues with 64-bit Vista, it is a no brainer in July 2008, IMO.

Unless it is a game than it is just as easy to run incompatible software in a VM under Windows XP but I haven't found much software that doesn't work in vista x64
