XP was faster than 98 for games released in 2002. I am 100% sure that most major games released in 2007 will run better on Vista where Dx9 or Dx10. And it is these games that really matter.

How does it matter if you current current games at 1280x1024 4x 16x instead of 1280x1024 6x 16x. It is more important to run the near future games at 1024x768 16x rather than just 1024x768.

Alot of people use higher resolutions than that and without TOtL video cards they will have performance go from good and playable to below playable.

It was just an example to tell that 10-15% performance gain for some of todays games can be compensated on most higher side cards today, or even in mainstream and performance mainstream cards.

Newer games will run better on Vista.
Some of todays games should run more or less the same +-5%.
In some games there may be a performance decrease but it won't be much, do you mind getting 45fps at 1920x1440 or 40fps at 1920x1440?
