Vista Sidebar. How to make transparent on Home Basic

Does anyone know how to make the sidebar in Vista transparent in Home Basic? I know it is capable of it because when I play a quicktime file, I get a message saying that quicktime is not compatible with the current them and then the Sidebar goes transparent and stays that way until I restart. I want it to do this when the system boots up.

I didn't think that was possible in Basic since the transparency is part of the Aero Interface which Basic is lacking.

Well quicktime is doing something to unlock it which tells me that there is a way to change it somehow.

Hope you find a solution. I have an older lappy that is running basic and would like to have it do that as well.
