[Vista] Searching now working in encrypted files

Hello everyone,

On two Vista systems I have noticed that although encrypted files are indexed (after enabling the option in Indexing Service) the system will not search the encrypted files.

Does anyone have any idea why this is? My entire user directory is encrypted and I can find email and URLs but not any sort of file.

That option is actually very misleading. It refers to indexing an encrypted offline files cache, not encrypted files on the rest of the disk. Currently, you can't index encrypted files.

There may be some updates in SP1 for this, but I don't know for sure.

That's dissapointing because the indexing is such a fantastic part of Vista. 🙁 Thanks for the scoop stash!
