Vista screensaver dodgy

So the damn thing doesn't come on half the time. I can't seem to correlate it to anything. I don't have any videos open whatsoever, nor do I have music playing, or paused.

I never had trouble with this in XP. WTF?!
anyone else with the same issue?

I do have a MX1000 wireless mouse. But last time I had it hooked up to the dock(which deactivates the mouse), and the screensaver still didn't show up.

Other than for personal entertainment, there is no point in running a screen saver on a LCD. LCDs do not "burn in." LCD backlights have a finite life - so running a screensaver burns the CCF tube just as much as letting the regular image run.

For LCDs, the best solution is to turn it OFF after a determined number of minutes.

I notice WMPlayer sometimes leaves a process running even after I close it. If you use WMP, try setting the option of allow screensaver during playback, and see if that helps. Also use a pencil eraser on the battery contacts(mouse and cradle) of your MX1000. They sometimes get a little crud on them and make intermittent contact.

well actually i'm more concerned about the auto off standby mode than the screensaver.

I don't have burn-in on my 4 years old vp191b, but it has horrible image retaining problem.

(ei. any static images remaining on the screen for at least 5 min takes about 1-2 hours to go away. Also, when I used to play WOW hardcore the GUI literally remained on the screen for days)

I had the same problem recently.

I installed the IntelliType and IntelliPoint software for my Wireless 1000 Mouse and Keyboard and now my screensaver and my sleep function correctly. This was on 64-bit Vista Home Premium.
