Quick question...

So if I have everything I would like backed up on a second sata internal drive, and I would like to do a vista reinstall on my main drive, do I have to do anything special once I have vista reinstalled for it to recognize the additional hd? I've done some searches on here but haven't come up with anything conclusive.

Not to my knowledge no. As long as the hardware is in good working order, and the machine itself recognizes the drive (and you don't inadvertently install windows over your data) you should be fine.

I would unplug the secondary drive before I went ahead with the re-install, after the install and updates, i'd turn off the pc, unplug the PSU cord, re-attach the secondary drive, plug the PSU up and boot up, Vista should do the rest.

I had to do that or vista would only boot with the cd and then do a vista start repair, but I had raid0 and a 780imb
-so now I always disconnect all drives , but the one the os is going on.
