Vista Reboots Continuously

anyone else having that issue? i get it both on the x64bit and x32bit versions on an MSI nForce 430 mobo, ATA DVDROM, SATA HDD...

how would that be handled? when i boot from DVDROM it reboots RIGHT after post... 🙁 ...i can't remember if the install-from-working-OS gives me the option or not...

ahhh I didnt realize it was rebooting immediatly; I thought you were getting the first part of the install underway before the continous reboots started.

I dont really have any good suggestions at this point; I would troubleshoot it the same way as with XP. Start with the hardware, try swapping your DVD drive, IDE cable, RAM etc. to see if that will make a differance.

Good luck,

I have a very similar problem. When I boot from DVD, it loads files, then proceeds to start setup, which appears in black and white, then it reboots.

If I run setup from within Windows, it does it's thing, reboots when needed, then same problem. Gets into setup, which loads in black and white, and reboots.

If I run it in Virtual PC with the same CD (not image) in the same drive, setup loads in full color and everything seems to be working from there. But I don't want to run it in Virtual PC...

Update: Nevermind, it's not black and white, but more like very limited colors.

I had weird install issues too. As in, my install would never reboot when it was supposed to. I (very unscientifically) updated my chipset drivers to the latest nForce 4 ultra's and updated the A8N-E bios to 1013, then tried installing on a fresh drive via windows XP. No problems getting the intall to work from then on....
