Vista re-install

Does anybody know if Vista can be re-installed in a similar manner to XP? By that I mean in XP you can do a re-install of the OS without wiping the drive. You simply begin the install process, but at a certain point you hit "R" and do a re-install which re-installs the OS without deleting anything. I've used this method when changing video cards or even a motherboard. This method in XP mainly re-installs the drivers and such, but it does not uninstall any programs or delete any saved docs. The reason I want to do this is one of my Vista Premium installs is screwy, mainly Windows Explorer keeps blowing up. I don't want to do a new install because I have several things installed which would be a pain to replace (primarily subsciption software which would lose many settings and would need re-synching). I've tried it myself, and it doesn't appear to be doable. I'm hoping I missed something.

I believe so. When you boot from the Vista DVD it should try to detect a previous operating system, then ask if you want to change/repair it. Try it out.

Thanks, but that doesn't work. That just gives you options to repair startup, get a DOS prompt, things like that. Though I should note, mine's an MSDN copy, so upgrade us disabled. Maybe it would work for another, but I don't think it would work for mine.
