Vista RC1 wont clean install

Ok so I installed Vista Beta 2 Build 5472, with absolutely NO PROBLEMS. When build 5536 came out I decided to try it out so i downloaded it. Since this was on a dual boot system with Server 2003 x64 (with each OS on a seperate HDD, and when i installed vista i unpluged all other drives so there was no boot screen, i used BIOS boot to boot into each OS) I formated the build 5472 Drive from within windows. I then booted up the installation with the 5536 DVD and started to do a clean install.

Now My Problem: It gives an error similar to this, The required files were not found, The file does not exist. Error code 0x80070002 (this is not 100% exact but is close enough). I get this error usually when the "Expanding files" progress is either 1% or around 18% (sometimes it manages to get to 18 about, but rarely). When i get this error i can press "OK" and it takes me back to the initial "Install" Screen, where i can put in my serial key again, and select clean install etcetc, but if i do that, when i get to the select disks part again, now the disks don't show, i have to reboot to get them to show again. The error just keeps happening again.

To clear up some things. The previous install couldn't have done anything becasue after getting the errors constantly, i tried reinstalling build 5472 again, and it worked. Also it can't be the DVD because I used that same DVD and installed build 5536 in VMWare Server using the actual DVD, no douwnloaded image.

So....Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advanced

Oh btw build 5472 and 5536 are both 32-bit versions

Have you tried burning a new DVD at slower speeds? Sounds like a bad burn to me.

Ur right its Pre-RC1 but w/e.

It can't be a bad burn because using the exact same cd i can install it with no problems on VMWare Server. On top of that i burnt it at 4x, the lowest Alcohol 120% would give me. Also i've burnt 3 copies, all the same problem.

Just to clairify (because it's still early in the morning) you are creating a new clean partition using the Vista installer and it errors out early on in the file copy process?

If the same DVD works fine from within VMWare Server (running within XP on the same hardware) means the liklihood of it being a physical problem with the DVD or the drive is low so that pretty much leaves the drivers.

Perhaps you've hit a new bug in the WinPE drivers for your controller.

I would definetly bug this, make sure to include the details you've listed here and as much specifics as you can gather about your controller (chipset, firmware, etc.).
