Vista RC1 Issues

RC1 installed fine but...

It seems like my video drivers aren't working properly.
I have a Radeon X850XT.
I downloaded the vista drivers for it.
Installed them on Vista which is running ever so SLOW!!! (frame by frame slow).
Still runs painfully slow.
Took me 30 minutes to check a few thing that I could have checked in like 2 minutes.

Help please !!!

Someone else started a thread about ATI drivers but as you can see...i have a different problem.

I disabled my graphics card from in the Device Manager and then the system miraculously started running fine except without any hardware acceleration, so it ran choppy when moving windows and so on.

Any thoughts on how to correct this problem?
I need to have 3D but how am i going to get it working properly?

My issue with the X1900 is different, but I can tell that I had to roll back to the original shipped driver. We have to wait for an ATI updated driver.

The best we can do is to report the issues.

For me, there was no rollback option available so i had to disable the device.
I was really looking forward to 'playing' around with Vista.

My laptop is running an X300 and doesnt seem to have any performance issues. I'm running the Microsoft provided WDDM 7.15.11.0 drivers. Have you tried some basic troubleshooting like removing the display adaptor and letting Windows reinstall it?

Throughout the beta process the drivers off the ATI site have frequently been behind the drivers available in the Vista build.

Also have you bugged this yet?

EDIT: Looks like you're not the first on this forum to post of ATI issues:

I haven't tried removing the card.
I checked that thread already though...the OP for that thread is the same guy that posted above in this one.

I'll repost when i've tried removing and replacing the card.

I removed the card and put in my old AGP 6600GT.
Booted fine, recognized it and installed drivers for it all by itself.
Swapped cards back to my X850XT and it installs: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.

What is my next move?
Do I retry the ATI Vista RC1 (x86) beta drivers again?
If not...then what?

My only issue is that there aren't any drivers for my sound card (M-Audio Revolution 5.1). Since I enjoy hearing things, I'm not really gonna give it a full shot until M-Audio releases some Vista drivers.

Is there anyone at all who can help me out with a possible fix.
I gave ATI some feedback alright but no reply or anything yet.

Help...anyone...please...

The X850XT works fine in my install. I am running 64-bit Vista 5600 build and no problems with the card. It runs BF2 fairly nice, except range is a little shorter then it used to be.

someone told me that the AGP version of the X850XT works perfectly
so i don't know if there is a problem with the PCIe versions
