Vista questions

Ok guys, I was looking at a new laptop with a decent vid card (ATI X1600) so I could play some games again with my buds (nothing fancy, CC Generals and other RTS games, no FPS'). While talking to someone, they said that Vista will need a Direct X 10 video card to take advantage of all the cool features and that current video cards will not be able to upgrade to Direct X 10 via driver/firmware upgrades. Is this true? Would I be up poop creek without a paddle if I invested in a laptop right now with a DX9 card?

AGH even bigger newb! Mod, Please move to OS forum. Thanks!

I'm running Vista on one of the Intel 950 integrated video cards on my laptop and it does all of the fancy things just fine as far as I can tell.

Good luck finding a laptop that's DX10-compatable unless you're willing to pay an arm and a leg for them! I hope I'm wrong and somebody corrects me - I want a cheap one too! 😛
