Vista Program Files Folder Corrupt

So it all started when symantec antivirus corporate version got corrupted or something and it wouldn't load or even uninstall.
I had to remove it manually using instructions on symantec's website.

Now during the removal process I noticed that I am unable to access the program files directory. It says that the folder is corrupt to run a scandisk to check the folder.
I try to run scandisk but it wont work because files are in use. I schedule it to run at reboot, but every time i reboot it wont run. I even tried running safemode command prompt and chkdsk /f and it says the NTFS folder is locked.

I know that the program files folder in vista is not used anymore and the data is stored somwehere in the users directory.

This is driving me nuts. I finally got rid of that symantec crap and installed nod32 and ran a scan and it didn't find anything.

Any help or advice is appreciated.
I pulled the hard-drive out of the laptop and stuck it in my XP desktop. Ran scandisk and it didn't find any errors.

Ahh I fixed it myself.

Pulled the drive out. Put it in my XP machine ran chkdsk /f
It rebooted and ran the checkdisk before windows started up and found all kinds of file system errors and fixed them.
