Vista Premium costs $27 more for 32 sv 64 bit ?

Just purchased Vista Premium OEM for $96 for 64 bit version. The 32 bit version was $123. Strange that there would be $27 difference...gues they think there will be little or no demand for the 64 bit. It does seem to have more drivers than the RTM did, as it installed adriver that worked with my 8800. Nvidia does not have any 8800 Vista drivers on their site! The DVD does not include a 32 bit version as far as I can see.

Yep the 8800 drivers are still in beta. Shouldn't be long now though.

Stash, I do not think there are any Beta 8800 drivers. Nvidia only lists support up to 7950's. 93.81 will not work on my eVGA800 and Vista 32 bit. Do you know of some other BETA? Thanks

Where does Microsoft get these drivers if Nvidia hasn't released any yet? Do they write them themselves?

Really strange, they are not on Nvidias site or any mention of them. Who wrote the drivers if Nvidia didn't? They seem to be in the Vista release. How long does it take for Nvidia to update their site..........

Question: for a Core 2 Duo system with 2 GB of RAM, is there any reason to install the 64-bit version instead of the 32 for Vista??

I did some brief Google searching and the consensus seemed to be that very few programs were written to take advantage of 64 bit and that I would likely run into problems finding the right drivers for it at this time. As a result, I bought the 32-bit OEM version of Home Premium (despite the crap EULA -- which I'm hoping won't hurt me since I plan on having this motherboard for a long time). Is this going to get me into problems?

I have the OEM Vista 64 bit version of Home Premium,I have been checking driver availability before install and can find virtually all drivers in 64 bit format for my PC,the only one missing at moment ( Winfast DTV tuner)but think I have found that one too(waiting on email reply),so 64 bit support is very good IMHO considering official release date is not until 30th January and a lot of companies are slow to release Vista drivers ie..Creative( still only beta ones).

Glad I went for 64 bit version, also do note Microsoft next OS is going to be 64 bit only so expect to see Vista x64 taking off and paving the way for the future.
