Vista on nForce4 SATARAID?

I'm trying to install Vista x64 on my home machine, and decided that it was time for a full overhaul anyway. So I blew away the partitions and such, and setup for RAID0. Everything when fine, except when I got to the "Where do you want to install Windows" part. It showed 2 hard drives, not a single raid volume. So I RTFM'd and loaded the driver off my flash drive for the NVSATARAID, and still showed 2 seperate drives. Refreshed the screen (with the handy refresh button)... STILL shows 2 seperate drives. So I said "what the hell" and created a partition on Drive 0 and off I went on the install. On reboot, I am handily told "Missing Operating System".

Has anyone successfully done a fresh full install on NV SATARAID?
 
You can't install it that way. only way to install x64 on NVRAID is to install it withing xp x64, load the drivers from there.

IMO stick to 32-bit version.

Actually, I tried it with the x86 version soon after I posted this, as I had nothing to lose (Missing Operating System and all)... and the x86 version did the exact same thing.

My guess is that Vista isn't seeing the BIOS and such.

Yest, but then you run installation from 32-bit windows such as regular xp. this is not a problem with intel raid, just with nvidia raid for some reason.
 
My point is that you won't be able to do it. you don't have to upgrade xp, just you need to start installation from XP.

... which for example if you're building a new PC would be possible only if you waste the time to install Windows XP first. Like I said, the POINT is that I was doing a clean install from scratch... from the DVD... with NO pre-existing install of Windows.

Hopefully this will be addressed in future builds of the installer.

If you had said "Yes, I've tried to do a clean install on NVRAID, and no, it doesn't work (for me at least)" in the first place...

You mean "the ONES". 2 drives, RAID0. The Vista installer simply refused to see them as a single RAID drive even with the drivers loaded.

OMG for the 5TH TIME as someone posted in the previous thread, u cant get the NVRAID to load up at a clean install. The only way to go around this is you need to setup another partition and have windowsXP install VISTA on that partition with the NVRaid drivers.


Also it helps a lot to know what release ur using. Also NVIDIA VISTA drivers wont work on NVRAID that supports IDE and SATA RAID. Its CLEARLY STAMPED IN BIG BOLD FONT on there VISTA driver page. That means if ur running a DFI UT series LP series which sports dual raid forget it, the only way your gonna install vista is though RC-1 though upgrade.

BTW i just got the special link for RC-1 and those of you that are registered BETA testers should be getting a email soon with the link.

Calm the F' down I wasn't talking about the NVRAID crap.
 
It is IMPOSSIBLE to do NV sata raid with a clean Vista install. Simple as that. I email NV and they gave me the "it's a beta" line. Don't waste your time trying. Use a single drive.
