I assumed it would, but i got into a mIRC argument with someone who pulled out this link:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/DirectX-10-and-so-it-ends-7762.shtml

Ancient article right?

But has anyone even tried older games w/ Vista & their 8800 yet?

I could test this out if i had an 8800, but i don't.

So i'd very much appreciate feedback from those of you with Vista, 8800s, & older DX games :)

Thanx.

Yeah, i know things work relatively fine with DX9 cards (i have one) :)

I need to know how the DX 10 cards work though.

Thanx anyway.

All feedback is good

Yes, they do. Windows has always included legacy versions of DirectX.

If I can find my old install disc, I'll tell you :p. Although, if I remember correctly, you can download this for free now, right?

You can always play older games even when running a newer API.

Think of it this way. Say you want to play X-Wing 95 (DX 5.0 I belive) on XP with DX 9 installed. You definitely can. To speed up to a more recent game... KOTOR:I requires that DX 9.0b be installed. DX 9.0c is installed on my system right now. Can I run it? Absolutely?

The bigger issue right now is that G80 Vista drivers are still immature.

Dx10 itself is not backwards compatable with previous versions of the DirectX API. However, Vista has a DX9 implementation which will give you backwards compatability for previous versions of DirectX.

Vista provides backwards compatibility for old games with DirectX 9.0L.
