I guess it's time for Vista. My University copy of XP Pro suddenly says it did not pass validation. My guess is they've switched over to Vista and as such, the VL key has been rendered bogus.
I hate to spend the money on XP with Vista out, but I don't like the thought of moving to Vista either. But I guess I've decided that if I have to make the move, it might as well be Vista.
I build a number of systems for others and have always gone OEM, trying to keep the price down, but I'm not sure that's the way I want to go for myself. Are they really enforcing the one computer edict for Vista OEM? I hate the thought of a motherboard taking a dump and having to purchase a new copy. I just put together a new rig early this year and I will be fine for a good long time in regard to upgrading (years actually), but things happen. I'd hate to have to repurchase because of a hardware failure.
I'm thinking retail is what I need, but would welcome any thoughts or links.
