Vista: Now Zero for 2

So I just got a brand new Dell E1505, core 2Duo, 2 GB RAM, x1400 Radeon, with Vista Home Premium. Last night my son wanted me to install SW KOTOR on it. So I did. Tried to run it the first time, after updating patches for the game. It wouldn't run, it errored out with some SECUROM error. Great. Tried to run as administrator. Still wouldn't work. Compatibility mode for XP is a no go. So I uninstall it.

Tonight I try SW KOTOR 2. This time, after reading a tip over on Hard OCP forums, that if you install any software as administrator (don't let autorun installer run, click on executable and run as admin) that it resolves many issues. Then after installing, before running, run as admin for the first time. Still a no go. I get an error:

"SW KOTOR 2 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

No notification.

What is going on? How do I get things to run. starting to get upset........

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

I did find one solution for KOTOR2, on their forums. I downloaded a .dll file that supposedly fixes issues with sound drivers in Vista. thread
seams to run ok now.

Yea drivers, it seems to be the main issue. If you get problems, try running in XP compadability mode, that sometimes fixes things for me.
