I need to get a copy of that for sure. Which package is that in now as I am confused about the different flavors of Vista?

Nice! MC comes in Home Premium and Ultimate right? Are there any differences in MC in the different flavors?

Nope, there is no difference between Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Media Center. I am using Home Premium.

Nope. No problems with Vista in general or Vista's Media Center.

Does vista MC allow the use of firewire to get video and audio? My cable box has firewire out, so I could get an HD feed then

Sorry for the blurriness. My camera sucks.

what kind of PC are you running? What tuner card is in it? And do you have OTA HD or subscription?

It's a Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 2.1GHz with a Radeon x1650XT and 2GB DDR2-667. I'm using a WinTV PVR-350 NTSC tuner and a Avermedia A180 HD Tuner. It's OTA.

Here is my updated rigs page: http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=30628

Is that HD quality on those videos? Those look pretty sharp and clear. What HD TV Tuner do you use and how much was it? I have the dated Hauppauge PVR-150MCE, and its quality is nowhere near that mostly because it's analog only.

I love it, but from my experience (Ultimate) it was great and all of a sudden media player stop working. It would not even initialize, but it would still show a frame for the thumbnail. Updates are very efficient, they will grab any driver for you that is newer, current, or even more compatible. XP claimed such, but it was very half-assed.

I think if you are trying to upgrade to Vista, I might have something of interest to you.

(Vista 6.0.6000 Ultimate) with every update known to this date w/ Ultimate Xtras

PS- I tried uTorrent and BitComet with it (Both of the newest versions that claimed to be compatible with Vista) and I do not have a router (a problem that comes to mind first for the proximal minded) as I have a straight connection to the wall. Vista firewall at this point pissed me off so I just turned it off and yet I still have NAT Traversal and/or Firewall errors. My computer is open to an 'ass raping' :) lol right now and it will still block connections. I've heard some people with success, but I've also read what they had to post on the random boards and just out of plain curiousity or even desperation; I've tried the solutions and it failed for me and some claim otherwise. After all of this typing... basicly just sharing my experience and I still like it :) Maybe soon enough I can afford Core 2 Duo's or maybe even Quads  Another thing.... I have a 2.66ghz (random prog claimed HT....?) 768mb... Actually I don't even know right now, but my main Q was about the processor and mobo anyway. I am not in a natural state of mind. I definitely took my time for typing so I really hope someone reads and responds. Would it be worth it for me to go an AMD Dual Core or an Intel Dual Core or Quad and if it is worth surpassing my 2.66ghz(HT?) ... which one....the AMD or Intel. LOL and if it is AMD which one? and if Intel... which one?

Thanks for anyone that has the patience to read it all and if you respond, I thank you even more.

Have a great day... the few ladies and all of you repugnant men (inspired by Seinfeld) :)

Oh haha man I so need to take a Vitamin B Complex, drink water, and get into an coma-like sleep. This is definitely a thread hijack :)

Edit- Perhaps if anyone is or will be kind enough... I'll catch the responses tomorrow. I just reread my language mechanics and clarity and I don't have it in me to fix it.

Can we please move this, I'm sorry.

the new sports section rules.... been running vista for months and i really like it as an upgrade over mce05. I also like the horizontal album scrolling views but i hate that it doesnt apply to all the sections you can filter the listings by (would have been real slick to have it do "digital stacks" like wmp11)

Ive actually gone a slightly different way than you in that my media center is a house server.... and i have 360's at all my tv's since the 360 acts as an extender and works exceptionally well (in that you get a seamless experince between the extender and actually using the pc). very nice to have one tv interface at all the tv's in my house (with one big recording list, guide, music collection etc)

Also helps in that I can focus on adding drive capacity to one server (got 800 gigs for my content) vs trying to keep up a bunch of computers.

I don't really know too much about TV tuners, but are they QAM capable? How is this in conjunction with a cable descrambler? (Legal for testing remember.. I have access to them and I could use it for testing Comcast... hence the question)
