This is a fresh home premium install. Is there any option i can use to speed up responsiveness of the media center for my music collection?
going through my music collection in vista is painfully slow, ESPECIALLY when viewing by playlists. It will crawl when selecting one playlist to the next
When i had MCE2005 it was not an issue. It was snappy and great speed
My setup:
Media center PC running vista home premium - x2 4200 1gb ram
my uber rig running xp pro and my 70 gb music collection c2d e6600 2gb ram
both lanned to a ddwrt flashed wrt54gs
searching through tv shows (mpegs, mkv's, avi) are not a problem though.
Also, what do all you guys use to have flac playback on your vista media centers? and also, how to get it to show up in the interface?
* UPDATE 3/19*
Not completely fixed, but I think i'm onto the problem... I have a gut feeling that ethernet on my vista machine is running slow... I switched the ethernet port from the integrated marvell adapter to the nvidia integrated ethernet adapter and things are a little bit snappier, workable, but still noticably more sluggish than with MCE, which was silk smooth.
