Last weekend I installed Vista on my my Mom's HP Pavilion dv6000 and now it won't sleep. After some testing I've found the culprit, Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 as long as that is plugged in the computer will not sleep. Under XP there were no problems with that but it is with Vista. Ideas?

Unplug the mouse. "Sleep" is an abomination anyway.

Thats the problem it won't go into any power save states unless she specifically forces it while the mouse is plugged in and it worked just fine under XP.

Sleep is an abomination? You close the lid on your laptop so when you want to use it again it wakes up.

Sounds like a bug you MS lovers are ignoring.

Have you tried rocking it back and forth while some soft music plays in the background? Make sure it's hard drive is nice and full. Routine is the key.

Do you happen to be using the picture slideshow screensaver? My mom's computer wouldn't go to sleep, or even turn off the monitor if that screensaver was active.

2 Vista laptop's here and both won't go into standby or sleep mode.

I had to choose Hybernate and that works now, but only if I close the LCD!
