Vista Lag/Black Screen Issues

Alright a friend of mine told about this nice little site, and I've tried just about everywhere.. yes even Windows Help, but I really don't want to pay them money for it being the problem from the start.

Anyways, here's my problem.. for quite some time from the beginning when I first got Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. Now for some reason when I open a program with the security symbol in the lower right hand corner.. I first off get a black screen, that takes a few moments, then up comes the dithered black screen that should just pop up without my screen going completely black with the loading symbol on my cursor, now when I click to accept to run the program, it goes into the completely black screen once again, and seriously.. it annoys the hell out of me and lags all the programs I have running. Anyways I have no idea what to do.. so I turn to you guys, you might actually know my answer. Ask me any questions about my computer that you might wanna know first.

And one more thing before I go, I actually am having lag issues currently in games, but I just recently got the new 8800 GT Superclocked Edition graphics card from EVGA.. So I know that should be the problem.. and not to mention the 2 gigabites of ram.. so if you can help me figure this all out, please help me out.

well the first thing that comes to mind is to update the vid-card drivers, if they are totally up to date run a driver cleaner on the driver then re-install it. The fact that you have lag in video game also suggest to me that it may be something with the card.

Any program that has that security symbol icon the corner requires administrative privilege be given to the program. The screen goes sorta black-opaque, then as you mentioned you have to hit ok then the screen goes normal and the program runs. This is normal and will often lag for a second, (it makes my mp3's skip a beat in WinAmp 5.5).
Try right clicking one the icon and "run as admin..." I 'think' that will bypass the verification screen.

Yeah and that's what I've thought about it as well.. I've updated all drivers, and I have ran a drive cleaner pretty regularly. Everything is up to date that I see.

And I've tried that as well.. the complete black screen comes up for about 10 seconds and then goes into the black-opaque, but what this should be doing is just going to that black-opaque screen right off the bat.. I have no idea why it's going completely black and lasting 10 seconds when I first click it, and after allow or cancel the security.. it goes into another 10 seconds of the complete black screen. It's annoying the hell out of me @_@

Hi there!

That annoying black screen lagging sort of thing (User Account Control) can be turned off. Once you do that, it won't ever happen again no matter what you decide to do and you don't have to run things as administator.

Go to the Control Panel

Select "Security"

Search (small box in upper right corner) for "User Account Control"

Various options will pop up; one should say "Turn User Account Control On or Off".

Good luck with your other troubles! I'd like to know why while running Vista basic my notebook screen decides to freeze up into a bunch of vertical lines at random... but as it doesn't happen too often I'm not very worried about it. Hopefully it will work itself out. But turning UAC off should make your life a lot more pleasant. :)

UAC is for your own protection, you know...you might want to think twice before turning it off...
