Vista keeps configuring a few programs before they run

So I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate and noticed this error first with iTunes.

Whenever I open iTunes I get a Windows message saying "Please wait while Windows configures iTunes"

And then it goes right into iTunes with all of the settings I have had all along.

So I was thinking that it was a problem with iTunes only.

Fast forward 3 weeks and I am running Microsoft Expression Web (Frontpage 2007). I close the program and re-open it and I get the same message :

"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Expression Web"

I have reinstalled both programs. Even removed all registry entries of both programs. Cleared my temp files.

I've Google searched and cant find anything specific enough.

Any helpful suggestions besides the obligatory "Uninstall Vista" post would be appreciated. Thanks Guys!

So far what I've found to fix this is to replace the shortcut and/or run the program as an administrator one time. The shortcuts that are the culprits are different than normal ones in that, when you right click on them, they do not give you the option of running as an administrator and also do not specifically have a target application listed in the shortcut. If you manually create a shortcut to the application(s) in question and replace the offending one, it should fix the problem (at least with iTunes).

Yup. I went straight to the exe (never thought of that!) and htey both ran right away. Thanks for the help, mate! Much appreciated!

Believe me, it took a lot of guessing and shots in the dark before I stumbled upon that one 😉 You're welcome.
