Vista Installation Errors

Trying to assign a 50GB partition on my WD4000YR. I have my main (raptor) drive completely unplugged. When I select the partition I get an error.... I even tried reformatting the partition to no avail.

Ideas? System is beyond capable.... 🙂

Just out of curiosity why do you have your main drive unplugged?

He's got his raptor unplugged to avoid a sata conflict and/or to ensure that his XP install is safe from any modification. It seems those who are having the most trouble installing this beta are also running sata drives in combination with IDE drives. One of the work-arounds has been to disable the sata drives in your bios and install vista on an IDE partition.

I believe this is what he's attempting to do.

I've got a lot of important files on my raptor that I don't want to put in the hands of beta software. The WD4000YR is SATA, but the error is something to the extent of "The installation has had an error press OK to exit." I'll post the real error tomorrow.
