Not that i support stealing, but i still cant get over the fact that you have to PAY to beta test software for M$.

You don't have to pay to beta test software for MS. MSDN is a subscription based thing where devs get the latest and greatest so that they can code programs for Windows etc.

You just have to be lucky enough to be choosen as a regular beta tester who just tests Windows for free.

Actually, anyone can apply and most get accepted, just take this fair warning to heart, microsof beta1 is actually less than alpha code in GPL, beta 2 is alpha and relesease is beta, five -9715 fixes after you have bought and upgraged it enough thei'll release the next OS.

It's basically a BS system, for what, heh, i think you can figure that one out on your own.

I'll give it 2-5 years before MS is as dead as BeOS.

A thought that popped up when I read that, is that MS Windows have a big advantage in being user friendly and when it comes to PC games, I think their position as of now is pretty stable for the at least the next 2-5 years :)

They have their market structure and the world will adjust to that?

How about not?

The market shoved MSN right up Gates's ass and has proven that the most pouplar Server system nor web software is MS, not because of the cost but because of MS's failure to actually create something even remotably usable in the arena, MS SQL is a failure, server 2003, well office sales carry that one the rest, licensing, the beurocracy is costing MS as much as it's costing any government.

I'll be discussing this with you in five years while you'll be typing this from a Linus setup just as i am doing now.

My 13 year old son installed slackware on a leftover the other day, it's supposed to be the hardest to install and configure, he is surfing from it as we speak.

And this is hard stuff to install, or so they say, slackware is nothing for beginners.

ID software as well as Take Two will be using OGL in their upcoming releases not DX, what does that tell you, their linux releases are scheduled ahead of their win releases, what does that tell you?

Everything i see is pointing in ONE direction, and NONE of that is in the direction your Vista beta is pointing....
