Vista: Icons never "stay put" after restart.

I've got my icons all categorized by which side of the monitor they're on. Top for programs, left side for video editing files, right side for links, and bottom for games. However, after I restart Vista, they always revert ALL to the left side. Is there a way to have the icons not revert back there?

Thanks.

Was never checked.

Its not like I can move the icons and they move back, I can move the icons and they stay where I put them throughout the time the computer is on. However, once I restart it reverts all towards the left side.

You are using a very customized layout, and I do the same sort of thing. In order to preserve the layout, I use a free applet called ICON RESTORE. It works in Vista as well as XP.
Download and install it, and then after you drag things where you want them, right click on Computer and select SAVE LAYOUT, If it ever gets moved, then select RESTORE LAYOUT. It works for me.
