Vista Home Premium question...

Recently, I bought a new HD TV. I am building a Media Center box. All my machines are XP. I haven't bought my O/S for the new machine but have to decide whether to buy Media Center 2005 or Vista Home Premium. They are going to be about the same price.

I would like to go with Vista H.P. but I am leary that it will not play nice with my current XP network. Should I be worried or is my worry warranted?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Only problem I've had with Vista on a network was that stupid new feature where you can set a network to public or private. By default it was set to public on the machine I was working on and no file sharing or printer sharing would work. After about an hour of playing around with diabling firewalls and other crap on the different pc's on the network and running ping commands with no luck, I finally found the stupid setting and changed it to private. Then everything worked great.

So because you didn't know how to configure it or what it does, it's a stupid setting?

Ultimate + XP Pro seem to work fine for me.

I have Ultimate on my notebook & on this machine, & XP Pro on my secondary PC.
