Vista Home Premium memory recognition

I had done some reading awhile back concerning the amount of RAM Vista recognizes/is able to use and for some reason the magic number was 6 GB. Upon attempting a recheck, I have not been able to find this information agaibn at the MS site.

I currently have 4 Gigabytes of RAM installed. The motherboard recognizes it. The memory test program in Vista recognizes it, but Vista system specs shows 3 GB.

Just for grins I ran the Vista memory test and MEMTEST...all good.

So, how much RAM does Vista recognize/is Vista able to use?

Thanks,
