Any ideas why this would be?
Have an ASUS P5n32 sli se deluxe MB.
0704 bios, default settings

I've been reading about this KB929777 hotfix. Computer is still slower with 4gig over 2 gig.

I've just read that Vista has a known bug running 4 gig of ram. Has anyone who has 4gig ram had this problem and offer a solution?
I installed vista with 2gig ram, and after installation, i put 2 more in, and now it is slow. Help

CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

What bug are you refering to (do you have a link or KB number?).

Oh, I thought you meant another bug. It's unlikely that has anything to do with your situation. If you were using that controller you'd be blue screening unless the patch was installed. I'm trying to think of other causes, but with Vista64 I'm having trouble (you shouldnt be double buffering or other 32bit/4gig issues which might make things appear slow).

How are you measuring the speed difference? How much of a difference are we talking about.

With 2 gig (2 one gig sticks) installed, about 30 secs of loading screen and im in vista
With 4 gig (4 one gig sticks) about 2-3 minutes.

Interesting, sounds like drivers where double buffering after all. Hmm, good catch, I suspect you wont be the last person with a similar issue.

until I enabled memory remap feature vista only saw 3gigs out of my 6, didnt seem to affect my boot times but ...

Yeah i had to enable the Memory Remap Feature in my bios as well, but it didn't slow down bootup, just was only showing 3007 MB till i did.
