Vista: Help me to kill this process!!

I was looking around on the web for a long time, but i did not get any helpful information, or none works.

On my Vista X64 it constantly starts mobsync.exe, and with it wmplayer.exe.

I can see this in the background using process explorer.

mobsync.exe is part of offline files/sync center.

I already did EACH hint/tip in regards to disabling/turn off offline files/sync center. I dont know what process/task is starting mobsync.exe respective wmplayer.exe

No matter what i turn off, disable....this is unkillable.

I looked on google and groups, there are many people asking how to get rid of this. Many people only giving advice which applies to 2000/NT and not to Vista. NO ONE can give any information how to stop those tasks from appearing.

I checked registry as well as ALL known means for checking autostart programs, services...i still dont know which one triggers the start of wmplayer/mobsync.

i got a readyboost device USB stick as well as a generic USB stick for other stuff plugged in.

Its hard to say unless you post a list of your other running processes. There are a lot of other instances where a program can call up wmplayer.exe, or mobsync.

My best guess at this point is that you somehow have windows media player set to automatically sync with the memory stick, and thats starting up both processes in the background. Check within media player to make sure that isnt the case.

On Vista, need to do two things:
1. Disable offline files
2. Remove offline files from Indexing (Options)
3. For all devices in Options/Devices/Properties/Sync Settings in Windows Media Player, untick "Create folder heirarchy on device" but don't delete (hidden) WMPInfo.xml on those devices.
4. Make sure Options/Rip Music/Rip music to location isn't on removable media
