I have Vista 32-bit installed with all the latest updates. I'm currently using PowerArchiver for my .zip files. I chose it because it supports most compression types, including .cab files.
Unforunately, I've found that when I click on a .zip file inside Internet Explorer, IE downloads the file to a mysterious "Temporary Folder" without ever asking where I want to save it. Then an IE window pops saying "A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer" (PowerArchiver). It goes on to say that it will open it outside of Protected Mode, and I have to click Allow. There's also a checkbox option to not see the message again for the program.
What I WANT to have happen is to have Vista ask me what to do with the filetype. In this case, I want to save to to a '"\downloads" folder on my drive of my choosing (c:\downloads). I'll open it later if/when I feel like it.
I can't find ANY plug-ins that cause this in IE, nor can I find a setting to disable it. PowerArchiver software support swears its not PowerArchiver that's causing this action. Please help.
