Vista File Sharing - Everyone permissions to folders

I search without much luck...

This is my current drive:

500 GB
-Movies
-Music
-Other

I want to share the Movies and Music folder to anyone that can connect to my wireless network.

I have set the folders to be shared with Read permissions to "Everyone". However, I still cannot view the files from my roommates XP machine.

The one thread mentioned adding "Everyone" to the security tab. However, they later mentioned that this isn't a good idea but didn't say how to ultimately get the sharing to work.

Any ideas would be helpful...TIA

Yeah, Every One is a security risk, but if you do want Every One to be able then you do not care about security at this specific folder.

?Every One?, if you notice is actually all users on the list.

So either you open an account for every user, and then instead of checking each one of them as allowed, you can choose Every One on the List, to let all listed users connect to the Folder.

Alternatively, you switch On the Guest account and allow every guest (without a specific account to connect to the folder.

Look like this, http://www.ezlan.net/vista/vs-guest.jpg

If you need more precise instructions for switching On the Guest Account, type Guest Account into Vista?s native Help.

P.S. I would suggest that you make an independent Folder directly of C:\ and and put all the stuff that you want Every one to see. I.e do not use a folder that is part of the regular Document system.
