Every time I reboot my Vista system, I get the following error message in the Event Log (System section, Event ID 7026, Source: Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider):
I just updated my chipset drivers today with the latest available from Intel. I have a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 rev 1 motherboard. I dual boot with XP and Vista, but the problem does not occur with XP. They keyboard works fine in both operating systems, but I'm concerned because Vista occasionally reboots for no apparent reason. The reboots may not be related to this problem, I don't know. The Device Manager says that the keyboard (and all other hardware) is working properly.
One suggested solution (that apparently worked for somebody using XP or 2003) was to do this:
Thanks in advance.
From what I can tell from Google searches, this seems to be related to using a USB keyboard (and maybe mouse). Mostly, Google turns up discussions related to Windows 2000, though there are some references to XP. Does anybody know anything about this problem? The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: i8042prt

I don't have that "headless" key in that location. Also, I tried to add it, but I couldn't put in "0x1" (it ignored the "x"), so I didn't save it.Solution:
Step 1: Backup your Registry
Step 2: Open the key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters]
Step 3: Change the value Headless data to 0x1
Thanks in advance.
