it says this when i try to install sp1

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package': [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package'. MSI returned error code 1601
WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package' is not installed

I have a MSI mobo and idk if that is the problem or what? some one please help there isnt any thin on ms support.
 
Any one of these:

Windows Installer service is not running.
You don't have latest Windows Installer.
You are running installer in Safe Mode.
You dont have enough privelages to run the installer.
Shutdown all other msiexec.exe processes before running installer.
Restart your computer.
Repair Windows Installation
Download this to remove broken Windows Installer entries
 
how do i shutdown the msiexec.exe?
when u say repair do u mean put the vista cd in and repair it?

try stopping Windows installer service or shutdown msiexec.exe from task manager an then restart the PC

And yes i am talking about windows repair installation.

MS supports any update.microsoft.com issues for free.... have you tried calling/mailing them about this?
 
i did try to get support but they wanted to charge like 60$ for it. must have been somthing eles.

i will try to repaire windows cause there isnt any msi in the task manager

do u think i should just reformat and install xp? im not realy thinking about getting any more ram or a dx10 card. i have xp and i didnt pay for vista so thats not an issue.

???
 
i tried to repair but i cant seem to do it.
i try to boot from disc but it just trys to change boot options.
i try to put the disc in but it just boots normaly.
i try accessing the disc while in vista but it dosnt offer the option to repair.

i am very Frustrated.
