Vista dual boot

How difficult is it to toss a 2nd HD in and load vista on it for a dual boot situation? I'm not really looking to actually fully switch until sometime after SP1 is out but I'd like to try a couple of the vista/DX10 required games.

Also, for those that received a disc for purchasing a laptop with XP on it during the free vista period, is that a normal vista upgrade install disc or a specific manufacture made one?

First, the level of SP shouldn't be a factor in determining it's readiness. So through that part out. Dual-booting will give you experience to decide when it's ready for you.

As for how to do it, assuming you have XP loaded on the first drive, it's very simple. Leave the second drive blank and unformatted, then put it in your system. Boot from the Vista DVD, and when you choose the install location, point Vista to the second, new hard drive. Vista will install there, and set up the menu to choose which OS to boot from.

I've done clean installs from those OEM discs, so you should be fine.
