Vista drops WiFi Connection

As the subject says.

System is:
MB GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3
2 GB RAM
2 @ 160 GB WD HD in RAID 0
VGA EVGA 7600GT
Core 2 Duo E6300
Vista Home Premium OEM
GIGABYTE GN-WP01GS PCI Wireless Adapter

Everything has the latest drivers. WiFi dropout is the only issue. As long as you're using the machine its fine, but if it sits, the connection hangs and Vista thinks there is a driver problem with the wifi adapter.

It seems there is a hotfix available, but when I try to get it they want to charge $65. Other than pay, is my only solution to wait for SP1? :disgust:

Any tips, help, commiseration appreciated.

Just get them to drop the charge if it really fixes your issue.
 
You are never charged for hotfixes.

Don't call and say you are having XYZ problem, call and say you need a particular hotfix. It will be a grace case.


If you have ANY problems getting the hotfix PM me and I'll make sure you get taken care of immediately.

They charge to talk to phone support (but, as explained above, they should not charge you for this, since you just want to get a specific hotfix package.)

For whatever reason this hotfix isn't downloadable through normal channels yet. It looks like it literally came out last week.

As Smilin notes, simply call and tell the representative that you need "Hotfix number xxxxx". They'll get your email address and send you a link to the hotfix. No money or credit card is involved. Every time I've called, I've gotten assistance immediately and they'll hang on the line until you confirm receipt of the email.
 
FYI I also experienced this problem with older builds of the Cisco VPN client, if you're running it may want to upgrade.
