Vista Driver Problem

Hi there,

I have a Logitech Mx518 mouse and have been trying to install the drivers. I get most of the way through and then Vista (32) tells me that it can't write the file because it already exists.

I have done everything I can think of to remove the drivers and allow a clean install, to no avail.

Did an add/remove software, removed all references to Logitech from the registry, unintstalled the mouse from the device manager.

I'm hoping someone might be able to direct me to the files that are being left on my system so that I can nuke them and do a clean install of the Logitech software.

Thanks!

I imagine you have, but did you download the newest drivers for the mouse and make sure they are the ones for vista?

Also were the drivers installed successfully at one point or have there always been problems trying to install it? If they were successful how long ago did they stop working properly? You could do a system restore back to the point where they were working.

Yeah, they are the latest available drivers.

At one point they were working fine, but stopped about a month ago. Each time I reboot, Windows tries to "install the drivers for my new hardware" and sees the device correctly as far as brand and model, but always fails with the "cannot create file when it already exists" line.

Thanks again.
