Vista display issue

This is an odd, silly issue. I can't find documentation anywhere else about it.

Concerning the HTPC I just built: I'm displaying Vista in 1080 mode on my Westinghouse 42" lcd tv. But it doesn't fill the screen. There's a good 3 inches on each side of blak border. Windows thinks it has filled the screen, so there're no resize options there. I'm running on the Asus M2A board with the HD cord, so my TV thinks it's receiving a signal from a source other than a computer, so it won't offer it's own resize options (if the TV detects that a VGA or DVI cord is plugged in, it enables PC options that let you shift/resize the image).

If I plug in my old desktop, running XP through a DVI-HD conversion cord, it properly fills the screen, but the PC options won't be enabled - no big deal there.

Has anyone else heard of this or know a way to fix it? I've gone through the display options extensively and there's nothing there. I guess if I don't find a solution I'll just install XP on the HTPC.
