vista desktop icons disappeared

Heres a bit of an annoyance, I switched from my user to my admin account a minute ago and when I came back to limited user account half of my desktop icons where mysteriously gone... There's no virus and I'm not sure what it accomplished if it was other than annoying the hell out of me. Is this some sort of desktop refresh bug with vista or something? Anyone else come across this? Vista has been running pretty good for me lately until this little incident.
 
I tried reboot and didn't do anything so I just put the icons back, I found out that when I switched to my admin account Fsecure wouldn't work, the scanner would get stuck on the user files. I deleted the admin account and things run better now. When I installed windows I switched the beginning user account to limited and created a new account for admin, I imagine thats where the problem is somehow. I'm also getting blue screens in windows update with my laptop which is running vista, windows update will run, restarts, then the OS won't boot.
