Vista crashes when I try to update it

Just installed Home Premium and when I try to do the windows update, it will find updates and ask if i wish to download and install... I say yes and after a few seconds of starting the download process it crashes my computer.

Any help?

update: i was able to do the update manually by installing 1 update at a time, but when i get to the recommended vista updates it crashes again...

anyone have this problem or know the cause/solution?

Call 1-800-Microsoft.

Tell them you have a problem applying an update and the call will be free of charge. MS wants you to keep your software updated so they'll back you up if you run into problems.

Really. Give them a call. This will be your fastest solution.
