Vista computer can't log onto NT 4 server.... ugh

Are they compatible? I am typing in the password and username that i added to the NT server... What am i doing wrong?

Vista probably defaults to requiring some SMB extension (like signed packets for instance) that NT4 doesn't support.

I think you need to change NTLM authentication in Security Policy down from the newer version...I'm not on a vista box right now to check where it is, and I sure as hell couldn't test it as I don't have an NT4 server anywhere anymore...hell I don't think I even have media to create a VM. :laugh: I'm sure it works though, I remember reading about it during beta. Surely stash or smilin will be in shortly with the details.

Sorry man, I gave myself an NT 4 lobotomy after it fell out of support a few years back

It should work though. My *guess* would be firewall settings on Vista.

Try adding the computer name to the PDC in Server Manager first, then doing what this guy did.
