Maybe you should figure out why Vista is chiming at you and fix that instead.

When XP was chiming pretty often on a relative's PC, it turned out to be a defective card reader. It would disconnect and reconnect itself and windows would chime each time it did that.

it won't randomly chime, it's chiming to inform you of something. find that out first, you must... end the chimes, you will.
