Hi

I've just installed Vista 64-bit premium. I have installed BF2 and can run it (using compatibility mode).

However, I can't seem to get patch 1.41 to install. It just stops after about 1 min without any alerts etc.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get it to patch?

Please do not respond with the, "don't use vista then - go back to xp" kind of answers.

My complete solution to getting bf2 to run on vista 64-bit was this:

1. Install BF2 and patch to 1.41 (full patch)
2. Set properties on the BF2 shortcut to compatibility mode (Windows 98/Me for me, other ppl have used XP)
3. Set properties on the BF2 shortcut to 'run as this program as an administator'
4. If you get the "CD-key is invalid" when trying to join multiplayer:
4a. Goto 'start' menu select 'run'
4b. type 'regedit' and hit enter
4c. Navigate down the menu Computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Battlefield 2 - ergc
4d. Double-click the Default file in that ergc folder to edit the data string (delete any characters that are present)
4e. Type "x9392" followed immediately (without spaces) your product activation code in CAPITAL letters. Do not type any hypens or spaces. Hit Ok and exit regedit.
e.g. x9392AB74GYVNTZ6JL23GFR45 (these are just random characters - don't use it!)
5. You should be able to play bf2 online now!

NOTE: If you have any problems getting the patch to install, download the patch AGAIN. I had corrupted patch that didn't install and needed a new download.
