Vista...Can I configure one account and then apply its settings to all other accounts?

Hi!

I'm running Windows Vista and the main account used for installing programs has been configured completly. IE settings, WMP settings, desktop, icons.....

Can I apply the same settings to the other 3 accounts in the PC?

How can I do this?

Thank you in advance!

This thread could be of interest. The Vista Easy Transfer thingie is made to transfer your account to another computer, but it seems to work fine on the same computer as well. There's probably a more "official" way of doing this, but this is the one I've got so far 😀 Try it with one of your accounts and see if it does what you wanted.

Thanks for the link!

I personally only need to use once account, but my friend wanted help setting up accounts for his wife and 2 kids.

I used his account to install everything, office, nero, IE and WMP settings (RIP, Library), favorites......

Naturally, when using any of the other accounts, most programs are missing and IE settings are not present, single click, themes and more.

There really should be a way to mirror all accounts to act the same as the master account. Later I would simply bring the extra accounts to a "standar user" level.

I will try the wizard thingy next time I go over to his place!

Thanks for your help!

Don't know if it will work in Vista but what I usually do in XP pro or 2000. Once I have the user's profile configured the way I want it. Sign in ass Administrator, not the user, make the Default User profile visible. Then in the User Profiles section of System Properties highlight the User's prfile and copy it to the Default profile.
