Could you post the details on the 20 high-level infections, as well as any ideas you might have about how they got installed on the system? Someone been running around as an Admin with UAC disabled, or downloading & running Trojan Horses, or inserting infected CDs/DVDs/USB drives, or a combination of those? Malware doesn't just fall from the sky
Just wanna warn all you people who like me have read that defender is so great. In reality it is not.
In the bigger picture, realize that it's folly to expect security software alone to stop every threat.
take your security game 9 steps further. I have to agree that Defender alone would make a very poor defense,
if that were all Vista came with. But it isn't all that Vista comes with. You can be running a Standard account with UAC enabled, for starters. Highly recommended.
Oh, and if you don't like tracking cookies:
1) go to the Tools > Internet Options panel, then to Privacy, and set Privacy to Medium-High and hit
Apply
2) now click the "Advanced" button there, override automatic cookie handling, and arbitrarily block all third-party cookies and allow first-party cookies
Enjoy
