Vista Build 5728

One strange thing that I noticed, my 2nd day using Vista. Is it normal for it to shut down drives when they are idle. I have Vista on my Second HD, my Primary HD is a Raptor with XP on it. When I boot into vista after 5-10 mins, I hear a clicking sound, and my raptor spins down like its shutting off. If I open up my computer and browse that drive its spins back up. I get a bit of a delay before I see any files on it. Anyone else getting this aswell?

Yes, this is normal. The default power management plan (Balanced) has this option turned on. You can change it via the Power CPL.

Ah thanks for the quick reply, that was freaking me out last night.

Also does anyone know if there is a CCC less Vista Driver for Ati cards.

Like how i'm running just the driver and Ati tray tools on my XP hd.

I'm sure you could find a way to go without CCC, but none of the usual tools work, so you'd have no way to adjust settings.
