so i installed vista beta x86 on my computer last night and it actually runs pretty smoothly for the most part. Of course there are a few driver issues, but it has accepted a lot of them on my system. my question is, since i have an athlon64 3200+ and 1gb ram, would i benefit at all from installing the x64 edition? Will it run smoother? Will i have more driver errors?

And lastly, the damn warnings to allow a program to run, is this just something in the beta, or will this happen every time i try running a program that hasnt been ran before?

In short: probably not.

1) I haven't tried both yet, so I can't say; I'd guess not. 2) Yes, if you have anything that's out of the ordinary.

User account control will be toned down before release, but it will still be there. You can turn it off, but I've left it on so I can file bugs each time it pops up when it clearly shouldn't (e.g. when it pops up multiple times during the same operation).

You probably won't notice any improvement in performance running x64, but you could help to find bugs. Obviously there are far more people hitting x86 then x64, so the more on x64, the merrier.

lol i downloaded the 64 bit ISO and it wont even install.. trying the 32 bit now. if 32 bit works then just stick with it, the only thing 64 bit can do is introduce more problems.

I also can't get x64 to install...

Right after it finishes "Installing Updates" it says the installer encountered an error while trying to initialize the next stage of the intallation.

Guess I'll try 32bit for now...

I've tried both 64bit and 32bit versions on the system in sig below. The 64bit version is absolutely terrible, incredibly sluggish and slow. Took about 10 mins to unzip a 10MB zip file, the 32bit version did the same file in 10 seconds. It took twice as long to install the 64bit version too, 1.5 hours compared to 45 mins for 32bit version. Installing drivers was a pain, took forever, takes ages to load apps etc. In short the 32bit version is much better IMO, I'm running Vista 32bit and it's fine.

There's definitely something up with the 64bit version, dunno if it's my system. I'm running WindowXP x64 as my main OS right now and it's working perfectly.
