Vista Beta 2 questions

Will it run on my laptop?
Sempron 2800+
640 megs of RAM
128 megs to ATi X200

Do I have to do a full install from XP to Vista, or can I upgrade (and later uninstall without losing data)?

Beta 2 isn't on the connect.microsoft page, so I don't think it is.

Well, Beta 1 then. I'm sure Beta 2 won't change drastically in either of these areas.

Clean install. Vista betas aren't shipping with any upgrade functionality (unless beta2 is revamped)

Of course, you'd know that if you got the bulletins ... 😛

It should work ok. Its not like you can do anything and upgrade your lappy. There are hacks to make aero work with even Intel Extreme, albiet it runs dog slow cuz its software mode. I'm still not sure what is needed for true hardware aero to work. I think its just DX9 card with the right drivers.

Well, the X200M is a DX9 card. Guess we'll see how it goes.

Well, it's installed. The graphics are barely able to run on this thing.. there's major slicing when I scroll down webpages.

I also can't get VPN connections to work, and the security is incredibly annoying.

Isn't aero done in opengl? Isn't that what all the fuss about not being able to run opengl 2.x apps while aero is running was all about?

According to this story, Feb will see the feature-complete tech preview with Beta 2 sometime in April
